I'd always blithely assumed that thick yellow paint accounted for the raised appearance of yellow lines on the road. Here they are using a heat gun to attach sections of a roll of yellow thermoplastic, at the corner of James Street and Princes Street. I get the impression that bends such as this are a good deal more awkward than straight roads.
