Bridport Arts Centre
Bridport Arts Centre
Former Wesleyan Methodist chapel in South Street, built in 1838, designed by Bath architect James Wilson. Following the coming together in 1972 of the local United Reformed Church and Methodists to form the Bridport United Church (see SY4692 : Bridport United Church), it was bought by the Bridport and District Arts Society and converted into a theatre and performance centre. Grade II listed - see LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . The adjacent buildings, no 7 on the left and no 11 on the right, are contemporaneous, probably also by James Wilson, and also both grade II listed - see LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) and LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) respectively.
