The Military Road at Chesters
This stretch of the B6318 Military Road is the route of the Hadrian’s Wall Path.
A 2.8km (1¾ mile) stretch of road walking here is generally considered to be the most unsatisfactory part of the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, with walkers obliged to follow the busy B6318 and A6079 roads. Apparently a local landowner has consistently refused to negotiate an agreement to allow the National Trail to cross his land, thereby substantially reducing the amount of road walking.
