Former stables on St Thomas Street, Newcatle
The stables were built in the first half of the 19th century (probably around 1840) for Robert Deuchar Breweries and were used for the breweries dray horse. The brewery was taken over by Newcastle Breweries in 1954 but continued to be used for the drays until the 1980's. Presumably horse drawn drays were quite economical for delivering beer to the inner city pubs and of course they were a great advertisement for the brewery. However, in 1986 the stables were converted to workshops and offices. Hayloft opened in 2020 as rented office space.
