Terraced street in Benwell
Terraced street in Benwell
This is Condercum Road, at the junction with Wellfield Road. The upper terraced houses on Condercum Road were built around the turn of the century, either late Victorian or Edwardian period. However this lower section was added later, after WWI, from the Ordnance Survey map evidence. The street name comes from a fort on Hadrian's Wall which stood not far from here.
