Henry's Barbers in High Bridge
Reputed to be one of the oldest barbers shops in Newcastle. It dates back to the 1890's when it was known as Palmer Brothers, after the owners. In 1954 it was bought by Bill Henry who had a chain of barbers in NE England and renamed. The chain was broken up in the late 20th century when he retired. This shop was the only one which retained the name. It was taken over by Michael Brown who had served his apprenticeship here. Changed hands to Mark and Jane Winlow in 2008, but the name was again retained as was also Mr Brown, who continued to work here until his retirement in 2013, after completing 50 years in the shop.
