Detail of Sunlight Chambers
This building in Newcastle's Bigg Market dates from 1902 by W and S Owen for Lever Brothers, soap manufacturers. Sunlight soap was their best known product. It is in Baroque style, and was built as shops and offices. The frieze depicts harvest and industry. The ground floor is now a Greek restaurant and the upper floors are student flats.
