'The Black and Grey' Public House, Newgate Street, Morpeth
Described in Morpeth Town Council's 'Historic Environment Assessment' as, "an unassuming building but one that marks a prominent and important corner plot between Newgate Street and Copper Chare. In a town once full of inns, hotels and taverns, its continuing use for this purpose makes a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the conservation area. It survives well and stretches back into the site with a carriage entrance to the rear which would have given access to stables - a key component of any inn of this period".Built in the mid to late 19th century, the wall material is painted brick and the roof is slate.
