On the corner of Station Road and Council Road, the foundation stone of Ashington Town Hall bears the following inscriptions:
FOUNDATION STONE LAID 10TH APRIL 1911 BY COUNCILLOR W MILLER JP CHAIRMAN
and facing Council Road:
RECONSTRUCTED 1937 COUNCILLOR GEORGE BOWEN J.P. CHAIRMAN
The Town Hall (photograph NZ2787 : Station Road) was originally the headquarters of Ashington Urban District Council until 1974. The building is now occupied by Northumberland County Council.
