Former Sour Grapes Wine Bar, 86 Newgate Street, Morpeth
Whilst the building has been heavily altered over time, including a realigning of the roof, a tumbled-in gable survives to the north side which suggests an earlier structure within. After the former wine bar ceased trading in 2022, a planning application was made by the owners to convert the bar into a single dwelling with internal and minor external alterations which would not detract from the historical importance of the building. Subsequently, the converted property went on the market with the agents describing it as, "a beautifully restored stone-built terraced cottage within Morpeth’s Conservation Zone. A true gem with a rich past, having served various purposes over the years, including as a dairy from which it takes its name." The name 'Dairy House' can be seen in the skylight above the front door.
