Remains of Old Wall near Hartley West Farm, Holywell Dene
Remains of Old Wall near Hartley West Farm, Holywell Dene
This old rear wall is what little remains of Hartley Corn Mill which was located here at the time of the publication of the first Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area in 1865 and which had existed since 1760. It can also be seen from the opposite side at Link. There was a long mill race cut into the bank side, to feed water to the mill, running along the northern bank of the Seaton Burn from the dam referred to at Link.
