St. James United Reformed Church, Northumberland Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne
This cruciform church along with a Sunday school, church hall and caretaker's house was built 1882-1884 by Cockermouth-born architect Thomas Lewis Banks, originally as a Congregational Church. It is described in the 1992 edition of Pevsner's book, 'The Buildings of England Northumberland' as being dominated by, "a big raised central tower", built in a style which is, "free 13th century" and that the whole is in "remarkably original condition". It is the 3rd Church of St. James that has existed in the city and is a Grade II* Listed building.
