Carlton Terrace, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Formerly called Jesmond Road West, this large terrace was designed by Newcastle architect John Dobson and built in about 1852 on a road laid out by him in the 1830s. Many of the properties, including those shown on this photograph and on the south side of the road, are Grade II Listed. The terrace was renamed Carlton Terrace when the Central Motorway was opened to traffic in 1972, and thus split Jesmond Road into two distinct sections.
