Felton Old Bridge, Felton
Felton Old Bridge, Felton
Felton village stands on the northern (opposite) bank of the River Coquet and this fine old bridge once carried the Great North Road across this beautiful river. In the 1992 edition of Pevsner's 'Buildings of England Northumberland' the bridge was described as, "probably 15th century, with three ribbed arches and triangular cutwaters carried up as pedestrian refuges." The bridge was widened in the 19th and 20th centuries and, finally, bypassed by a new concrete bridge in 1926. The old bridge is Grade II* Listed.
