This signpost indicates the route of St. Oswald's Way, soon after crossing the Old Bridge linking Felton and West Thirston Link. St. Oswald's Way is a long-distance walking route which links some of the places associated with St. Oswald, the King of Northumbria in the early 7th Century, and who played a major part in bringing Christianity to the people. Covering a total distance of 97 miles (156 km) the route connects Heavenfield and Hadrian’s Wall to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) on the stunning Northumberland coast.
