The nest is on the platform on the right-hand dead tree, the female was sitting on the nest - you may see her head which is white and just to the right of the post behind the nest. The male was on a branch half way up the left hand dead tree.

Foulshaw Moss Ospreys 2025

Since 2014 a pair of Ospreys have nested annually at Cumbria Wildlife Trust's reserve Foulshaw Moss. In 2024 a 2nd young pair of Ospreys attempted to build a nest at the reserve, but much of the wood they used fell off the tree.
After the ospreys had migrated to Africa, the Wildlife Trust undertook work to improve the tree. (This was done with the agreement of Natural England, as it is illegal to disturb these nests.) A tree was felled elsewhere on the reserve and used as an additional support, so that a platform could be built. A solar panel provides power for a webcam on the 2nd tree.
Fortunately this suited the young pair of Ospreys when they returned from migration in spring 2025. They built a nest on the platform, and by the end of the 1st week of May the female had laid 2 eggs. As they are still young inexperienced birds there is still concern that the eggs will hatch and the young be successfully reared.
The trust have also built a new hide on an existing wooden walkway about 200 metres from the nest, so it can be seen well through 'scopes from the hide. (The other nest is a much greater distance from the original hide).
Update Dec 2025 : 2 Osprey chicks hatched on the new nest in late June, one of them survived. 3 chicks hatched at the first nest, all survived.
