Pavilion, Heaton Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne
The area of land on which Heaton Park now stands was acquired by the Newcastle Corporation in 1878 prior to which time it had been the grounds of Heaton Hall. This pavilion was originally built in 1884 as an aviary, but it was badly damaged by a fire in 1979. The surviving Victorian ironwork was subsequently restored by Beamish Museum and then reused in the reconstructed building. The pavilion is now used as a Sambuca restaurant.
