Bourn Windmill
This mill was mentioned as standing in 1636 and is one of the oldest surviving windmills in England. It is an open trestle post mill, with two common sails and two patent or spring sails (these are now just skeletons with no mechanism). Winding was by a tailpost. Inside there is one set of French burr stones. There is a large gear at the tail end of the windshaft but there is no evidence of it driving anything (stones or a dresser for example).
The mill is both Listed Grade I and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
