Toms Lane is a minor lane in the hamlet of Linwood, in the New Forest National Park. Here, the road is crossed by a stream. When the stream is in flood, the water level rises above the road surface. However, when this image was taken, the stream was low and all its water could pass through a channel beneath the road surface.
The New Forest

The New Forest is an area characterised by open pasture and ancient heathland as well as woodland. It covers more than 550 square kilometres, mostly in Hampshire although parts of it are in Wiltshire. Roughly two-thirds of The New Forest is within the New Forest National Park, which was designated as a National Park in 2005.
