Great Chishill Mill - inside the buck
Great Chishill Mill - inside the buck
An open trestle post mill that could date from 1712 and was possibly rebuilt in 1819. The current patent sails were installed c1912-16. It is winded by a fantail and there are two sets of French burr stones in the buck. It is listed Grade II*.
This shows the eponymous post and its bearing with the horizontal crown tree that carries the entire buck. Against the front wall are some of the shutters from the patent sails. The sails are now just skeletal.
