Ffrwd Fawr
Ffrwd Fawr
Ffrwd Fawr ("Great Torrent") is the cascade that turns the Nant Dropyns (SN8693 : Nant Dropyns gorge), which flows eastwards in the gorge opposite the viewpoint into the Afon Twymyn, flowing north from here. An ice-age glacier has cut through its original river bed and diverted its water
(SN8793 : Pen Cwm Twymyn). The Machynlleth-to-Llanidloes mountain road can be seen on the hillside above the waterfall.
