Jonathan Dodgson Carr started milling flour at the Carr’s Silloth Mill located in Cumbria in 1836. There are now three mills, the others being in Kirkcaldy, where the headquarters is based, and in Malden, Essex. The retail range of Carr's flour is milled and packed in Silloth. Carr's is now owned by Whitworths.
