The 1920s power signalbox at Manchester Victoria's west end survived until the station's through platforms redevelopment in the 1990s to accommodate the MEN Arena. Immediately behind the signalbox are the bridges carrying tracks over Great Ducie Street and the River Irwell. A class 46 locomotive is arriving on a Liverpool-Newcastle train.
