Pontymoile Gates
Pontymoile Gates
These ornate gates into Pontypool Park are thought to have been made in about 1850 possibly as a gift from the Duchess of Marlborough to the Hanbury family. They were later altered to allow larger carriages and motorised vehicles into the park. The gates have more recently been restored using traditional techniques and are grade II* listed. The plaque tells us that the memorial seats were given by the people of Pontymoile in memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in World War II together with a list of names.
