Former Co-operative Building, Bedford Street, North Shields
Built in 1912 and designed by North Shields architect J. C. Maxwell this attractive building was described by Nikolaus Pevsner in his 1957-published book, 'The Buildings of England Northumberland' as "red brick with a lot of yellow terracotta, and an asymmetrically placed turret and cupola". The architect J. C. Maxwell also designed the former Tynemouth High School (Queen Alexandra) building in Hawkeys Lane, North Shields Link
