Over the past 12 months or more Bedford Street has undergone a major revamp which has included new paving, mature trees, enhanced seating, and modern lighting creating a higher-quality public space. The project, part of the wider Ambition for North Shields regeneration scheme, restricts vehicle access to emergency and maintenance services and expands the pedestrian area for outdoor seating and events.
