Draper's Mill, Margate - turning gear
Draper's Mill, Margate - turning gear
A smock mill with four patent sails and winding by fan tail. There is also a gas engine here. Probably early 19th century and Grade II listed. This is looking up from outside the smock to show the worm gear that is operated by the fantail by the fantail to keep the sails into the wind. This works on teeth on the outside of the curb.
