The Golden Boy on Giltspur Street
The Golden Boy on Giltspur Street
This is the junction of Giltspur Street and Cock Lane. The Golden Boy or Fat Boy marks the spot where the Great Fire of London burnt itself out in 1666. Londoners thought that since the fire started in Pudding Lane and finished at Pye Corner it was God's punishment for gluttony. The plaque below states therefore that 'The late fire of London was occasioned by the sin of Gluttony ...'
