Gandhi and a Red Clock Face
Gandhi and a Red Clock Face
Manchester Cathedral's clock face is traditionally a standard dark colour, but it is sometimes illuminated in red to support charitable causes and awareness campaigns. The clock is famously lit in red on January 26th each year. This initiative supports the Societi Foundation to raise awareness for Kawasaki Disease, the leading cause of acquired heart disease in UK children.

Between January 14 and March 2, 2026, the cathedral is hosting LUMINISCENCE, a 360° light and sound experience. This event uses high-tech projection mapping that can bathe the entire architecture, including the tower, in various colours like red
