Bocking Windmill - top of the main post
This is a Grade I Listed weatherboarded post mill on a two storey brick roundhouse. It dates from c1680 and was moved to its current location in 1830 when the round house was added. It was handed over to the Urban District Council for preservation in 1929. The buck is now fixed and no longer revolves. The access to the buck is from the round house - an arrangement from the preservation era.
This is the lower level of the buck with the main post that carries the weight of the buck and around which the buck would have rotated. Behind it is the great spur wheel that deove the stones on the floor above.
