Bocking Windmill - great spur wheel
This is a Grade I Listed weatherboarded post mill on a two storey brick roundhouse. It dates from c1680 and was moved to its current location in 1830 when the round house was added. It was handed over to the Urban District Council for preservation in 1929. The buck is now fixed and no longer revolves. The access to the buck is from the round house - an arrangement from the preservation era.
This is the lower level of the buck looking up to the great spur wheel that drives two sets of underdrift stones. Note the wooden teeth.
