Bocking Windmill - bolter
This is a Grade I Listed weatherboarded post mill on a two storey brick roundhouse. It dates from c1680 and was moved to its current location in 1830 when the round house was added. It was handed over to the Urban District Council for preservation in 1929. The buck is now fixed and no longer revolves. The access to the buck is from the round house - an arrangement from the preservation era.
This shows the bolter that was used to separate the flour from the bran. There would have been a fine cloth over the central reel. The rear of the windshaft is seen at the top of this image.
