The nave of the church is late 7th/8th C, and the tower is largely Saxon. In the 13th C, in three phases, the chancel was rebuilt and the north nave aisle added; the north chancel aisle, south nave aisle and transepts added; and the south aisle widened and the north transept aisle added.
