Ruin, Brewery Lane, Cockermouth
This circular structure looks at first glance like the base of a windmill, but the 1900 1:2500 map shows that it was a curved projection at the corner of a large building, otherwise demolished and replaced by the modern building on the left. Does anyone know what it was, and what has happened to it since January 2004?
NY1230 : Ruin, Brewery Lane, Cockermouth This is the base of a windmill, which ground bark for a local tannery. It's a listed building, but permission was refused a couple of years ago to rebuild it as a house. Much more of the tower was still standing 15-20 years ago.
