Bournemouth: The Metropole
This was the Gander on the Green, whose name lives on in a sports bar on the first floor here – the entrance can be seen to the right, above which is a model gander which serves as their pub sign (see SZ0991 : Bournemouth: Gander on the Green pub sign). The ground floor is now The Metropole, a mock-art deco bar which is named after the Hotel Metropole which stood on this corner at the Lansdowne until it was bombed during the Second World War.
