Fire on the hill
A fire that burned through areas of forestry already devastated by a species of Bark Beetle. The dry, standing 'poles' on the steep hill-side allowed the fire to race over large distances at alarming speed. The heat created such an updraught that burning debris was scattered over a large area, causing further fires which really did darken the sky.

3 days later it was still smouldering: 5 years later, you can still see its footprint.
