This is claimed to be the steepest adhesion worked railway in the UK. However, the guide book that makes this statement forgets to state just how steep it is. I wonder if it beats the Foxfield Railway. The loco certainly hammers up this stretch.
According fellow contributor John Webb, it is apparently 1 in 15 with a short stretch of 1 in 13 near the top. That would certainly cement its claim to be the steepest
