SK2074 : Water-Filled Mines at Longstone Moor

taken 15 years ago, near to Wardlow, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Water-Filled Mines at Longstone Moor.
Water-Filled Mines at Longstone Moor.
The abandoned mine workings at Longstone Moor have been filled with water, forming a lake, or flash. Work on landscaping continues. Overnight frost has rendered the ground as hard as iron, facilitating access to this point which otherwise would have been ankle-deep in mud.
