Just north of Avebury
Just north of Avebury
This is a south-facing view from the entrance to Avebury Manor. The original standing stones are accompanied by much smaller concrete markers placed there at the behest of Alexander Keiller (1889-1955) in the 1930s to denote the position of missing stones. A summary of Keiller's involvement with Avebury can be found here LinkExternal link Visible in the background is the Red Lion public house just south of this square.
