Bridge over old waggonway in Lambley village
This bridge crosses the old trackbed of the Earl of Carlisle's Waggonway which was constructed in 1799 from Brampton to serve the coalmines in the South Tyne valley Link (Archive Link ) . Just north of this point, the waggonway connects up with the former Haltwhistle to Alston railway.
Lambley Viaduct formerly had a long footbridge bracketed off the piers a good way below the railway. When was this dismantled? A few views showing this are at RCTS (former)Mystery Photographs
