ST9434 : Downland near Chicklade Bottom

taken 17 years ago, near to Fonthill Bishop, Wiltshire, England

Downland near Chicklade Bottom
Downland near Chicklade Bottom
Dusk is falling over this chalk downland close by the A303 trunk road. The faint line in the grass across the picture marks the Ox Drove, a drove road of possibly pre-Roman antiquity that runs east-west along the chalk downland in west Wiltshire. It is also a restricted byway as well as being part of the Monarch's Way. See also ST9834 : Ox Drove near Teffont Down 1.
