NY3954 : Dissenters' mortuary chapel

taken 17 years ago, near to Cummersdale, Cumbria, England

Dissenters' mortuary chapel
Dissenters' mortuary chapel
One of two chapels provided when the cemetery opened in 1855, similar in style to NY3954 : Burial chapel, Carlisle Cemetery. This one was on unconsecrated ground, for use by Catholics, Quakers, Methodists etc.. It is not currently in use. In the upper window a barn owl box has been placed, as wildlife conservation is a policy of the cemetery's management.
