TQ4061 : Furze Bottom
taken 18 years ago, near to Leaves Green, Bromley, England

Furze Bottom
Grid ref is for the photographer's position about 200 yards west of High House
Farm. The view is looking northwest. The farm buildings just visible at top
right are Layhams Farm TQ4062 : Layham's Farm, Layhams Road, Keston BR2.
Something of a secret valley this: there is no road in the valley bottom in
the 3 km stretch between TQ 405 607, the junction of Salt Box Hill and
Oaklands Lane and TQ 409 640, Raithes Organic Worm Farm on Jackass Lane.
Although these valleys on the dip slope of the chalk North Downs are dry for most of the time, occasionally they do flood so historically, the settlements
tend to be above the valley floor - as with Keston, Nash and Biggin Hill in
this area.
