This is where the regicide Simon Mayne of Dinton Hall SP7611 : Dinton Hall and its history was buried in 1661 after his death in the Tower of London. His clerk, John Biggs, “the Dinton Hermit” SP7709 : “The Dinton Hermit” – Inn sign at Ford near Dinton and probably the King’s executioner, followed him into the graveyard in 1696. Neither are commemorated in the church, although Simon and his sister Colubery get a mention on their parents' memorial of 1628 SP7611 : Dinton church memorial 1628.
