The Old Curiosity Shop - Junction of Sheffield Street and Portsmouth Street
This is the 'Old Curiosity Shop' that was immortalised by Charles Dickens. It stands at the junction of Sheffield Street and Portsmouth Street in the old Clare Market district of London. I have traced my family back to living at Sheffield Street, Gilbert Street and Holles Street in Clare Market between the 1840's and 1860's and no doubt they were resident at the time Dickens both researched and wrote his famous novel.
