The Great Hall, Hampden House
The Great Hall, Hampden House
This sixty foot long panelled Hall is the largest room in Hampden House. See SP8402 : Hampden House and its history. In the Civil War period this Great Hall was often the meeting place for local Roundhead conspirators, and it is possible that the King's execution (by a local axe-man SP7709 : “The Dinton Hermit” – Inn sign at Ford near Dinton ) was planned here. See the story of the conspirators at: LinkExternal link , and the Gallery at: Link
