NR6348 : Quern Quarry on Gigha

Quern Quarry on Gigha
Quern Quarry on Gigha
In the picture you can make out the 0.5m diameter, circular indents left in the rock face after the quern stones were extracted. Most homes would grow and mill their own grain in days gone by. (NB the OS map shows the position for the quarry at NR635473. Is this an error or were there some quern stones quarried here also in the past from perhaps the same hard stone?)
The area abounds with interesting wildlife and fauna. See my images of seals Link and sea pinks Link .
