Cowley: Little Britain Lake
Little Britain Lake is a flooded former gravel pit where the first workings were undertaken in the 1930s. It is named after the nearby hamlet of Little Britain, and extends for about 450 metres between the River Colne, which is beyond the trees to the right, and Fray's River which is beyond the trees to the left. At the time the photograph was taken this northern end of the lake had a major growth of pale green coloured weed.
