Tower near Graham Square (bucranium detail)
Tower near Graham Square (bucranium detail)
This building stands diagonally across the road from the entrance of Graham Square. When I took this photo, the faded words "Finest Quality Butchers" could still be made out on the tower, written some way below the image of the cattle skull (a garlanded bucranium), and just out of shot in this image.

As for the skull itself, see NS6064 : Graham Square - The Calf for an explanation of the symbolism in this area.

This building, built in 1936, had been the Gallowgate branch of the Commercial Bank of Scotland. For a view of the whole building, see NS6064 : Building on the Gallowgate.
