Ridged bog lines
Ridged bog lines
The ridges and lochans are a feature of the unique "blanket bog" ecosystem of Sutherland and Caithness. At ground level the way the ridges align is difficult to see. A supplemental has been added from near the top of Maovally NC3820 : Sutherland Flow Country to show the incredible system established here at the watershed between Glen Shin and Glen Cassley. This view is from the Glen Cassley side.
